Wisconsin’s government transparency laws don’t only apply to governmental agencies. "Quasi-governmental corporations", private companies that behave like government entities, are also subject to open records and meetings laws. But how do you tell whether a company is beholden to government transparency laws or not?

This week a Supreme Court decision has, in the dissenting words of Justice Ketanj Brown Jackson, contributed to “pre-election chaos” ahead of the Midterms. The decision upholds a March executive order that sought to limit mail-in voting and stoke fears about immigrants. However, Wisconsin election officials are moving ahead with their regular plan for administering the election. To make sense of the decision in historical context and how it could impact voters, host Bert Zipperer is joined by two local experts, TR Edwards and Kristin Hansen.

According to some statistics, people with disabilities are 2 to 4 times more likely to die in a disaster. Her Turn reporter Arlene Zaucha talks with Alex Brady, a student at UW Madison studying political science, public policy and disability rights, who has spent the summer as an intern with the city of Madison in the office of civil rights.
