Ananda Valenzuela is a consultant who facilitates equitable self-management and liberatory practices at non-profit organizations. In a three-part series on Non-Profit Quarterly, they recommend a mindset shift about board responsibilities from insular to ecosystem, from power over to power with, and from decision-making to accountability. Under this framework, a non-profit board's core responsibilities would be "loving accountability" (to challenge and ask hard questions, but with care) and "abundant resourcing" (fundraising, but also networking, advocating, finding volunteers). For day-to-day operations, they discuss collaborative decision-making practices like the consent principle, dot voting, and fist-to-five, over traditional black-and-white models like the Roberts Rules of Order.

Lisa Johnson, Horticulture Educator from Dane County Extension, discusses the upcoming Green Thumb Vegetable Gardening series, troubleshoots growing tomato plants from seed, cautions against overusing salt for deicing, and advices pruning trees and shrubs when they are dormant. The Green Thumb Vegetable Gardening series will include 11 sessions from various Extension educators, and interested parties can register for all of them or only a select few.
