Nick Butter became the first person in history to run a marathon in every country in the world. 196 countries, 196 marathons, and a journey that would change his perspective on life forever.
With over 1,000 marathons and 11 world records to his name, Nick has pushed his body and mind to extraordinary limits. But behind the records are stories of incredible kindness, serious illness, injuries, personal sacrifice and the courage to walk away from a conventional career.
From running a marathon with a kidney infection to continuing a 200-marathon challenge on crutches, Nick shares the experiences that shaped his understanding of resilience, perspective and human potential.
They also discuss the risks of leaving a secure career, the generosity of strangers around the world, building a business around your passion, and why adventure doesn't have to mean travelling to the other side of the planet.
I also want to say a HUGE thank you to Bob for backing If You Can. They supported my last adventure across Australia, and this project wouldn’t exist without that belief and trust. It means a lot to have partners who care about the journey, not just the outcome and I’m really proud to have them alongside me on this one.

What happens when you spend 66 days kayaking across the North Atlantic, knowing that one mistake could cost you your life?
George Bullard is a world record-breaking explorer who's travelled thousands of miles through some of the most remote and dangerous environments on Earth.
In this episode of If You Can, George joins Louis Alexander to share the extraordinary realities of his expeditions, from kayaking across the North Atlantic without a support vessel to confronting the fragility of life in the polar wilderness.
But this conversation goes far beyond adventure.
George opens up about the devastating loss of a young expedition member in a polar bear attack, the importance of curiosity, the dangers of comparing ourselves to others, and why achieving something extraordinary doesn't always bring the recognition we imagine.
We explore what it means to surrender control, how adversity changes our perspective, and why George believes the greatest adventures can teach us how to live better every day.

Louis Alexander has spent years pushing himself to achieve extraordinary things. But what happens when someone who's used to chasing world records starts learning from other people's experiences?
In this special episode of If You Can, we're turning the tables.
Louis hands the microphone to his producer, Laurence, to reflect on the lessons he's learnt from interviewing entrepreneurs, explorers, scientists and people who've overcome extraordinary adversity.
From resilience and ambition to confidence, sacrifice and the meaning of success, Louis looks back at the conversations that have stayed with him and asks whether hearing other people's stories has actually changed the way he approaches his own life.
Welcome to a very different episode of If You Can.

Michael Flatman decided to launch a fitness app in one of the most saturated markets imaginable.
Today, more than 23,000 people have come through the doors of Edge, but getting there has meant sacrifice, changing direction and learning how to compete against businesses with far more money, experience and resources.
Michael joins Louis Alexander to reveal what building a startup actually looks like while you're still in the middle of it, why he believes founders need blind optimism, the personal and financial sacrifices he's made to keep Edge alive, how you convince other people to believe in an unproven idea, when to pivot, and why one of the biggest lessons he's learned as a founder is to speak less and listen more.

Vincent Van den Broeck has had more reasons to give up than most.
After losing his mother, his dream job and multiple businesses — and finding himself hundreds of thousands in debt, Vincent was hit by a car in October 2024. He spent three weeks in a coma and had to relearn how to walk, eat and speak. His rehabilitation was expected to take two years.
Months later, he walked out of rehab.
In this episode of If You Can, Vincent joins Louis Alexander to explore whether resilience can actually be trained, why he believes there is “no plan B”, the importance of the people around you, and how structure, consistency and mindset can help you keep moving forward when life repeatedly knocks you backwards.

Can you actually learn to be more confident and charismatic? Paul Boross believes you can.
Known as The Pitch Doctor, Paul is a Psychologist, Author, Speaker and Communication Expert who has spent decades studying what makes some people command a room and why others struggle to be heard.
In this episode of If You Can, Paul joins Louis Alexander to break down the psychology of confidence, charisma and persuasion, with practical techniques you can start using immediately.
From the way you walk into a room and where you look when making eye contact, to overcoming nerves, changing your internal dialogue and learning from the most charismatic people around you, Paul argues that confidence isn't something you're simply born with, it's something you can practice.
They also explore the difference between confidence and arrogance, why even world-class performers still get nervous, how to create instant rapport and why being someone people actually enjoy spending time with could be one of the most underrated skills for success.
If you've ever wished you could walk into a room with more confidence, speak more comfortably or connect with people more naturally, this conversation is for you.

Jaymi Hensley knows what it feels like to live at both extremes. As a member of boyband Union J, he went from The X Factor to a major record deal, sold-out arenas and a life that looked like the dream from the outside... until the band were dropped, the money stopped, and Jaymi found himself trying to keep up an appearance he could no longer afford.
But nothing could prepare him for the loss of his long-term partner, Olly, who passed away just weeks before they were due to marry.
In this episode, Jaymi opens up about the highest highs and the lowest lows of his career and his life, what fame really costs, why he's never been able to switch off, and how he found the strength to keep going when hope felt impossible. This is a conversation about resilience, identity, and what it really means to rebuild.
I also want to say a HUGE thank you to Bob for backing If You Can. They supported my last adventure across Australia, and this project wouldn’t exist without that belief and trust.
