Traditional American retirement focuses on leisure and tells us “it’s all 
downhill from here.” Leisure can have value, but it doesn’t give us the 
purpose we need to live intentional, godly lives. Likewise, financial 
planning is a big aspect of retirement, but Bruce attests that it shouldn’t 
be the main focus. God has more for us if we’ll follow Him into our 
retirement years.
