Once upon a time, na ofu ’obodo in a certain land, the Igwe gave a directive to the town crier and said: “Use the Ogene and announce to all my subjects that there is a task I’ll show them, that anyone that first finishes his own, I’ll give him my daughter, Adaeze’m in marriage.”
The Town-crier then did as his master instructed. It came to be that when the day dawned, the Mbe awoke and picked up his matchet and went to his friend - Ejula and suggested that they go and know why the Igwe is calling them.

Once upon a time, all the birds were invited to a feast in the sky.  They were very happy and began to prepare themselves for the great day.  They painted their bodies with red camwood and drew beautiful patterns on them with uli.
Mgbekwu which is the tortoise in Igbo saw all these preparations and soon discovered what it all meant.  Nothing that happened in the world of the animals ever escaped his notice; he was full of cunning.  

For the Igbo people, they say the heavens were in good condition as all the Gods and Goddesses who they believed existed before humans lived together in one part of heaven. However, each one of them was selfish, and therefore very anarchical. This then became the cause of great worry in the heavens as jealousy and greed came upon these Gods and Goddesses. These deities were fighting against themselves just so they could obtain the powers of other gods.

There was a time in an Igbo village when monsters torment little children and teenagers at night. The villagers tried to capture and kill these monsters but all their efforts ended up in vain.
In this same village, a beautiful girl named Obaledo lived with her parents.
She was very beautiful that princes from faraway lands competed to win her heart.
