Focusfire is the brainchild of Ignescent label owner Deen Pride and the talent of musician Fascad, a producer who’s already littered several imprints with his refined sounds, including Ram’s sisterlabel Program. However now they bring together their incredible skills individually as a collective, adding their music to the massive platform of Deen Pride’s Ignescent. The Russian imprint has proven its weight time and time again, continuing to do so with the four track EP which has been offered up by Focusfire. With Deen’s high-energy DJ sets helping to inject the live presence needed into the project, as well as Fascad’s expert craftmanship in the studio, they prove with their forthcoming EP that they’re a force to be reckoned with. The ‘Resolution’ EP will stand as a monumental part of their catalogue and it signals a blossoming career together as a duo.
The first track you’re introduced to from the EP is its title, ‘Resolution’. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Focusfire record, unforgiving, meticulously built and with the type of slicing drums which drill through
speaker stacks at any drum & bass night. ‘Akoazm’ follows next and its tightly fashioned grooves jump in and out of the mix, helped given more presence by its weighty kicks and blurts of atmospherics.
‘Spacelab’ is a fully immersive part of the track list, pulling you into the fray before it pushes you through its first breakdown, padded out by its melodic relays. As the horns kick in and you’re taken into a climatic drop, Focusfire step on the gas. ‘Basic Shapes’ finishes the collection and its just as progressive as its counterparts, with rolling bass notes adding a jagged edge to the cut as it kicks you into each frenzied patch of breaks.
Focusfire show you what they’re about with this next release and in doing so, they give you an insight into what they have in store for 2020. With Ignescent as a home, they’re sure to take tech-drum & bass to the
