I meet people all the time who are surprised when God's favor or blessing shows up. But why not you? Why does it always have to happen to someone else? This kind of thinking trains your brain to expect that good things are going to happen.

We're told from a very young age to play nice. Enough with being nice. Nice doesn't create transformation. Last night I was on a call with future authors. There was a gentlemen who took the position of a critic. He was not teachable. Eventually I asked him what he was afraid of. He paused and told us that he was afraid of not being in control. The words you use matter. I've been reading a book recently about stoic thinking. We often say things with hyperbole and emotion and set unrealistic expectations for ourselves. We don't have to necessarily deny ourselves, but just because we feel something doesn't mean we have to act on it.

I love the fact that you're odd. I recently watched a movie with my kids about real life superdogs that save people. Behind those super dogs are super people who train them. It takes patience. These people are odd. If you've been told you're odd, embrace it. Let your oddity be your superpower.
