Wrapping up Black History Month, my guest is Dr. Yvette "Diva" Williams. When her twins' father left her to raise them alone, telling her she was nothing but a "sorry welfare mother."

This was 1993. 

Instead of buckling, Yvette used her good upbringing and values from her parents, matched them with her voice talent, earned advanced college degrees, played on the radio for a while, wrote and published a book, became a bodybuilder and launched a musical career, with four albums of original music in her catalog, and new music out now.

Yvette explains where her "Diva" distinction comes from, and her passion for civil and human rights.

Today, our guest host is Scott Sloan, better known as Sloanie at 700 WLW. He serves as the king of this amazing party held annually in Northern Kentucky to raise much-needed money to fund local programs that support homeless children. 

35 years ago, in Cincinnati, a tragic incident occurred that touched the hearts of our local residents. Four homeless children were living in an abandoned garage and were locked in when their father left them alone. A fire broke out in the garage, unable to escape, all four children perished.Today, Homeless Children continues to be a major challenge in our community. Desperate area children in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati have benefited immensely from the actions of so many who have volunteered, donated, and attended in support of this annual event that can feed so many local children for an entire year. - Mardi Gras benefitting Homeless Children

Today's show highlights a retired LEO (law enforcement officer) who saw the tremendous need in his community of the West Side, and put his passion for people into action, creating "The Help Squad." My guest is Brian Ibold and his charity partner Sam Jasper, together they lead this Colerain non-profit organization named the 2024 "Best New Non-Profit" by the Colerain Chamber of Commerce. Brian is taking a different approach to handling problems and issues his neighbors face.
