  • Blessings are all around us!
Everything is going to be all right
My mom, no matter how bad the situation was or how terrible things appeared, would speak these words, "Everything is going to be all right." The future for us at times may seem uncertain, but what is certain is our relationship with GOD.  In the book of Isaiah, we read in chapter forty, verse one, the following,  “Comfort, comfort my people says your God.”  The words of the prophet Isaiah speak to us today that God does comfort his people. The comfort from God gives us the confidence we need to go through the difficulties we face in life.  Spiritual comfort can come only after sin has been forgiven.  We all have strayed from the relationship we have with God. The farther we have strayed, the more uncertain we are in our lives. The more uncertain we are makes even the small problems seem like big ones. Why? Because we do not have the right relationship with God.  We lack the confidence and support we need to have and we try to do things all on our own without insight or help from God. "Everything is going to be all right" are words of comfort only if we believe them. We can believe if we know that God has forgiven us of our sin. The comfort of hope that we desire comes when we make that spiritual adjustment of reconciling ourselves to God. The spiritual adjustment we make is a practical adjustment. Genuine repentance always finds its way into practical application. The practical application is who or what we put our complete trust in. If our trust is in God, then spiritual words of comfort have meaning and purpose and we can share them with others, because the same words that comfort us can comfort others.  Let us comfort each other with "Everything is going to be all right".

  • A Life Of Prayer Requires, The Truth Of Oneself
    The Agony of Defeat
Most of you remember the phrase made famous by a major news network in the coverage of sports, “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.” Some experienced the agony of defeat this past weekend, as their professional s  team lost in the playoffs.
As we journey through this life, we encounter victories and defeats, physically and spiritually. Handling victory does not seem to be as difficult as handling defeat. I believe that in part defeat is difficult because, any time we compete in anything, we take a risk. In any challenge, we risk being defeated. However, for anything to improve in our lives, we need to take some sort of risk no matter how small.
The Bible tells us to put our faith and trust in God and to go forward in our lives, even if it involves taking a risk. Philippians 3:13-14 states, “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Whether you have had many victories or many defeats in your past, this verse applies to all. Forget those things which are behind and press forward with God.
