  • "We are mirrors whose brightness is wholly derived from the son of God."
    Whaz u----------p?

No doubt a majority of you watched the Superbowl game, at least for awhile.  Some were watching it for the game; others were watching it for the commercials.  I must admit that there was quite a variety of commercials.  One of the most intriguing commercials was exploring the different ways that a person can say, “Whaz u---------p?”

God uses many different ways to ask us, “Whaz u--------p?”  He uses his Spirit, his Word, our conscience, and other people.  Matthew 6:8 states that your Father knows what you need before you ask him.  Despite the knowledge that He has, God still wants us to come to Him in prayer about every aspect of our lives.  God is concerned with what’s up in our lives, and He wants to have fellowship with us.  He is concerned about us in a very personal way.  From now on, every time you see those commercials, remember that God is also asking you the same question.

    Blessings to all,

  • "You may forget that you are at every moment totally dependent on God."
After the Seed is Planted: The Sole Balm
One can tell that it is Spring, even in the desert, by the new plant life all around.  The area around our chapel is full of beautiful flowers, thanks to the constant devotion of one of our parishioners.  She is constantly feeding, watering, and weeding those flowers.  Her hard work is paying off, as those flowers have taken root and now are in full bloom.
Our spiritual lives are like those flowers.  For us to grow and bloom spiritually, we must be fed and watered.  How can we be fed?  By spending time in God’s Word, in prayer, and with God’s people.  Psalm 34:8 states, ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good.”  To do that, we need to spend time with Him.
Our spiritual lives also need to be weeded.  God often refers to sin in our lives as weeds that come up and try to choke out the good.  We need to be open to God so that we can see the weeds in our lives and allow God to pull them so we can grow.
I hope that each of us will allow God to feed us and pull the weeds in our lives today so that we can grow in Him.
