We begin with the heart: why we signed a prenup and how respect, honesty, and children made the decision straightforward. Then the design journey: turning a standard ballroom into a white-carpeted, architectural ceremony space inspired by Crazy Rich Asians, complete with an 8x12 water wall that set the mood and stole every photo. Our guests arrived through a “mini museum” of our history, received personalized acrylic keys with QR-coded seating, and stepped into cocktail hour highlights that felt like us. A confessional booth, yes, a confessional booth, that captured raw reactions, a free merch station with premium gifts, and a custom unisex fragrance bar we built note by note.

The emotional center of the day was intentional. We chose to walk down the aisle together after a mid-aisle pause that symbolized partnership, while Musiq Soulchild’s live vocals shifted familiar lyrics into something new. Inside the reception, a clean, linen-free white palette framed the drama: a 15-tier cake brought in from Detroit by cake designer FlourHouse Cakes, revealed with theater and delivered with real flavor. Sorority serenades brought legacy to the mic, a confetti misfire made for legendary photos, and wardrobe changes reset the energy right before surprise performances by Keke Wyatt’s vocals and then Juvenile turning the party into a full-on celebration and concert.

We close with roots: a New Orleans second line complete with umbrellas, beignets and Indians, honoring family and home in a room of nearly 200 people moving in joy.
