Contrary to their role, halocarbons, the most common refrigerants, are one of the leading causes of Global Warming, as well as Ozone Depletion. While we are moving towards greener cooling technologies, the legacy of halocarbons remains. At iGEM IISc, we are working on a sustainable way to degrade these coolants before they leak and poison the environment.
