------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In this raw and inspiring episode, I sit down with my friend Durga Kishore, who opens up about his rollercoaster journey through IIT Kharagpur, the dark side of gaming addiction, and his eventual comeback to land a career at IBM.🕹️ Life Before IIT:Durga always loved gaming growing up and got into IIT Kharagpur with ease—thanks to a healthy rivalry with a competitive friend.🏫 Life at IIT KGP:But the IIT dream wasn't what he expected. Durga hated the slideshow-style teaching and large impersonal classrooms. Disillusioned and disconnected, he turned to games like Age of Empires and Dota, sometimes playing 10–12 hours a day, skipping classes, and slowly spiraling into depression.His academics suffered, and he struggled with his M. Tech Project (MTP). When placement season came, he didn’t get placed.💭 Turning Point:Haunted by a recurring dream of a crashing plane, Durga knew he had to change. He picked himself up, started preparing seriously, and rebuilt his career step by step.💼 Life After IIT:Today, he’s working at IBM, mentoring juniors, and is about to become a father—a far cry from the dark days of isolation and self-doubt.Durga’s story is a candid account of failure, reflection, and redemption.
