Pretoria-Special Investigative Unit Head Advocate Andy Mothibi says he suspects there is a criminal syndicate that is operating at the country's five refugee centres. This after Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and the SIU were tipped off by a whistleblower about shenanigans happening where illegal immigrants would be fraudulently issued with different documentation. The SIU and the Hawks have embarked on a search and seizure at the Refugee Centres in Marabastad, Cape Town, Durban, Musina and Qheberha. Mothibi says the data that will be processed from electronic gadgets and documents confiscated from the Refugee Centres will be instrumental in prosecutor and officials that are found to be implicated in the maladministration and corruption linked to the issuing of asylum seeker, permanent residence, work visa, and other documents issued by the Home Affairs Department.

Johannesburg-Police are pursuing more suspects in connection with the death of a five-year-old boy in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria. This after Gauteng Police Commissioner, Tommy Mthombeni's announcement that two suspects have been arrested. Ditebogo Phalane, was shot and killed when his father was being hijacked outside their home last Friday evening. A multi-disciplinary team worked with various intelligence systems to track the suspects to three different locations. The vehicle believed to have been used to commit the crime, Unlicensed firearms, magazines and a signal jammer were among the items retrieved at the locations. 

Nelspruit-The families of the three miners who were trapped underground during the 2016 Lily mine disaster, have refused to attend a stakeholder meeting with the Mineral Resources and Energy Department in Mbombela, Mpumalanga. The families say they were instructed by the department not to come with their legal representatives.

Johannesburg-City Power says that repairs on the electricity infrastructure on the M1 tunnel is finally complete and power supply is set to be fully restored anytime today. This after the newly installed 88kV cable passed the test along with several others that were gutted by fire two weeks ago due to acts of theft and vandalism. City Powers Tumi Mashishi says the power supply will be momentarily interrupted this morning to move the load back to the Braamfontein substation.
