Adam and Kyrie have been crazy busy and haven't gotten to the theaters to see anything new since Coyote vs. ACME, but they are back and here to talk about 3 movies that they each really enjoy that haven't actually been seen by many people. So, do yourselves a favor, give the episode a listen, and add some movies to your watchlists!

It's the end of one month and the beginning of another, so that means it was time for the monthly recap! Kyrie and Adam talk about some of the relatively hotter films in kind of a slow month and really give their thoughts on Coyote vs. Acme, a movie they've both been anticipating for months. And of course, it was also time to see what's coming out in September. Bit of a mixed bag, but there are some definite highlights that Adam and Kyrie are both looking forward to.

It was Adam's turn to pick the Arts vs Charts this month and he decided to pick one that had been on both of their lists for awhile: the Spike Lee joint, Do the Right Thing. But Adam also takes great delight in forcing Kyrie to watch movies that cause great pain. So, they compared it with the notorious Best Picture Winner, Crash.

First of all...HUGE apology for the late episode. Long story short, Kyrie dropped the ball. An out of state trip, school starting, and getting really sick all converged and this is coming out super late, but without further ado:

Back to school season is starting up, so Adam and Kyrie decided to look back at some of their favorite coming-of-age movies. And this was actually a topic recommended by one of the listeners! They also both got to go see what is quickly becoming the movie of the summer: Spiderman: Brand New Day. Kyrie liked it better than expected, while Adam was a little cooler on it, but they weigh in on what this means for the potential future of Marvel and the MCU.

Kyrie and Adam briefly go over some of the highlights of July, minus the new Spider-Man movie which just barely came out. The big one being The Odyssey, to no one's surprise. And then they take a look at some of the movies coming out in August. There's a few that might end up being either sleeper hits or massive bombs, but the big one they're both looking forward to is Coyote vs. Acme.

To kick off, Adam and Kyrie discuss one of the hottest movies of the summer: Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Both got a chance to see it opening weekend and they discuss their reactions, as well as some of the interesting BTS aspects. Truly a cinematic feat. And then it was time for another Arts vs Charts episode. Kyrie had been wanting Adam to see Pan's Labyrinth for a bit now, so they first discuss Jim Henson's Labyrinth with David Bowie before diving into Guillermo Del Toro's film. They have...differing opinions on Labyrinth, but spend some time gushing over the puppetry in both films and some of the themes in Del Toro's.

One of the big hits of the summer comes out this weekend and that is The Odyssey! Christopher Nolan is definitely a critically and popularly adored director and there are many people excited to see his take on the Greek epic. So, Adam and Kyrie decide to take a look at Christopher Nolan's filmography and highlight some of their favorites. Two fairly different lists, but a lot of Nolan movies are big crowd-pleasers. They also both got to the theatre with Adam seeing Olivia Wilde'sThe Invite and Kyrie giving Minions and Monsters a chance.

After a couple weeks away, Kyrie and Adam finish off Pride month by covering some queer films they've experienced and Kyrie gives a list of some essential LGBTQ+ cinema. And then diving right into recapping June and looking forward to July. They're finding this summer to be a little disappointing, but there are some fun gems here and there. They're both really looking forward to The Odyssey and there's some hope for the new Spider-Man movie, as well. Kyrie also got to the theatre for Toy Story 5 and shares some thoughts on that new release.

Back with another episode of Arts vs Charts, Adam and Kyrie honor Pride Month by watching two contemporary, quintessential gay films: Brokeback Mountain and Moonlight. They discuss some of the cultural impact of the movies and how they approach the stories differently. And Kyrie and Adam were both able to go out and catch Disclosure Day and share some thoughts on their experience, as well as talking briefly about the upcoming Toy Story 5.

In honor of Disclosure Day, Adam and Kyrie decide to dive in to Stephen Spielberg's filmography. They each share their top 3 Spielberg movies and they also discuss their experience watching Hook and how their opinions have changed over time. And in classic cinephile fashion, they both got to the theatres. Kyrie caught the surreal, animated film Another World, out of Hong Kong and Adam was able to watch one of the horror movies that's just blowing up the box office, Obsession.
