Christ promised that faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. But the hardest mountains are not made of stone — they are the ones inside us.

In this homily for the Sunday after the Transfiguration, Fr. Deacon Maxime follows Christ and His disciples down from the radiant glory of Mount Tabor into the suffering waiting below (Matthew 17:14–23). Reflecting on the healing of the afflicted boy and Christ's teaching on mustard-seed faith, he turns our attention to the mountains within the human heart — pride, resentment, fear, habitual sin, despair — and to the Lord of glory who descends to meet us in our weakness.

The Transfiguration shows us who Christ is; this Gospel shows us where He goes. The light of Tabor is not given so we can escape this world, but so we can carry Christ's light into it.
