We're guessing that a lot of us have dealt with imposter syndrome - feeling like you haven't actually earned your achievements, are a fraud, and that your successes are instead due to luck or some other factor. (Side note: if you haven't felt like this before, teach the rest of us your ways pls and thx.) It's only made worse by feeling like every idea has already been done, so what could you possibly bring to the table?
In today's listener-requested episode (thank you for writing in!!), Beth and Joyce do a deep-dive into their own experiences with this phenomenon and how they've attempted to overcome it.
They cover expertise and self-esteem's role, why writing down your wins can help you acknowledge your skills (and why we should all air-out our fails), the importance of finding mentors *that you respect*, how inspiration can come from comparison (shocking - we know), and ways to find your 'special sauce' - because we ALL have something we can contribute, even if it's small.
About Your Hosts:
Beth is a licensed, Ph.D. clinical psychologist with 40+ years of experience treating patients of all ages.
Joyce is a millennial just trying to figure it all out.
