After 42 years of public service, North Carolina Emergency Management Director Mike Sprayberry says he will retire in August.

On this week’s episode of Tying It Together With Tim Boyum, Tim talks with “Uncle Mike”, a man known for his calm and friendly demeanor in the midst of public emergencies, about his time as director, the origins of his famous sayings during the COVID news conferences, and all the people who have touched him throughout the years. 

Sprayberry also discusses the future of emergency response in N.C. as we continue to see more and stronger hurricanes.
