The outward respect due to old age is being revealed to us here with the immediate connection with the fear of God. The word honor in this passage is hadar, meaning to show favor. This gives us a direct connection to how we can maintain personal favor from the Lord. If children do not show proper fear and favor toward their parents, the conclusive evidence being stated here is the child will have no fear of God Himself & those that don’t fear God are confessing they do not have His indwelling!

Statistics show us that this present generation does not only dishonor gray haired elders – they are the generation pushing for euthanasia – putting to death the aged. Now that the Millennials are policy changers, we have countries around the world already practicing murdering their parents through euthanasia, a “legal” form of: Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. But if our fathers sin, let us not parade or tell their faults – as in the case of Ham, but cover them with the mantle of divine love. We may despise the sin, but let us restore such an one in the spirit of meekness, remembering that we also may be tempted. (Gal. 6:1-18 :l-4). Honor should always rule over disclosure of sin. God has been made known in their dark places of human weakness.

For centuries now, family life was as traditional as the authentic/original Bible itself - centuries where the Church provided the identity and infrastructure for culture, that is up to 1982. In fact, it wasn’t until year 2000 that our sociologists were faced with the reality of our dilemma.

Bible says that God upholds all things by the Word, which is of His authority (Heb. 1:3b). It does not say that God upholds all things by His power. POWER is what is released through authority to accomplish the “doing.” God’s authority represents God Himself; God’s POWER only represents God’s works.

Here’s the clincher. Imagine the disciples listening to Jesus lay out the golden keys of deliverance for fellow Body members. Embracing what Jesus said would be impossible for the disciples to comprehend without the Spirit revealing such mysteries. And now, we find one of the disciples catching the foundation of the message – extending forgiveness.

It takes an experienced indwelt Christian, mostly grown up and matured in Christ, to be trusted in releasing the Life of Christ in a meeting like this. They need to be a people accustomed to eating the strong meat of the Gospel. Such maturity grants them the privilege of unveiling the secret things of God, the mysteries of the Gospel.
