Welcome to Shifting Perspectives! For the month of May, Morgan told us to watch movies that have a Rashomon-like story structure, where the movies must be told in an unraveling fashion by moving from one character's perception events to another.

This week, she chose a thriller film by none other than Park Chan-wook, his 2016 film, "The Handmaiden".

For the last episode of Pride month, Keanu chose the Japanese film Monster 2024 aka Kaibutsu. This a film that shifts perspectives around the events of a young boy acting strange and the mother who finds out about what happened to him.

Morgan's choice this month is the black queer film Pariah directed by Dee Rees. It's a heartbreaking watch that focuses on a young black WLW teenager navigating a world that wasn't made for her.

This month we're watching movies about coming out, a topic some of us as queer people have had to face in one form or another. We specifically want to watch movies that show a character coming out, hopefully in a traditional sense but we'll get into that later.

This week, Manny chose the Ernesto Contreras directed film Sueno en Otro Idioma, aka I Dream in Another Language.
