Imagining a workplace that includes childcare

Listen Later

To jumpstart the show, we learn about the upcoming Moth GrandSLAM with story tellers Jen Rubin and Danielle Hairston. The GrandSLAM is happening Friday, October 14th at the Barrymore and will be hosted by Wisconsin Poet Laurette Dasha Kelly Hamilton.
Then we talk about child care in the workplace with Goodman Center’s Letesha Nelson and Emilie Amundson of the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. Together they imagine what could be possible if employers offered childcare. Last month the Goodman Center announced that it would offer childcare for employees. Letesha tells us about the decision, and Emilie explains how other organizations could use the state’s help the follow suit.
Letesha Nelson is the CEO and executive director of the Goodman Center. She joined the center in early 2021. For more than 20 years, Letesha has worked in non-profit spaces focused on children.
Emilie Amundson the Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. She is responsible for state and county programs that assist children and families. That includes child welfare, early care and education, and child support.
