For those of you that doesn't know, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is one of my favorite shows of all time, and it's streaming now on HBO Max.  So, of course I had to binge watch it from start to finish.  One fo the episodes that stood out, was the one with Carlton accidentally takes drugs from Will's locker.  In thinking that it was just vitamin E, Carlton overdoses on what later is known as speed.  Even though Will never had the intent to take these drugs, his family was still impacted by his decision to allow drugs in his life, even without taking him.

This brings up the question "do you think YOU make an impact?"  Listen in on thoughts about the show, and how I think it sends a great message to who we allow in our lives, and the responsibility we have to be a leader in our own social circles.

I am back guys.  Took last week off as I headed to Miami with my guys Aces and Ceez from Flood Society.  I will tell you, there is nothing like it!  While I was out, my lovely wife, LaRae, had finally hit the milestone that we've been waiting for.....100lbs LOST!!

I couldn't be more proud to be her husband.  Take a listen as we go over what kept the motivation going, what obstacles came up, and what does success look like for her now that she's reached goal one.

15 Things I’ve learned in Miami

1. Even though it’s a “red” state, it’s only conservative for politics and beliefs. Clothes are very liberal.
2. Miami and Miami Beach are vastly different culture and vibes
3. Boat life is a thing
4. You must be able to speak Spanish 
5. Roller bladers still exist in 2021
6. Someone is always on the beach, no matter what time of day  
7. There’s only one type of swimsuit available in Miami Beach 
8. Everybody has a beach body, no matter what measurements, in Miami and it shows
9. If your car doesn’t stand out, you should just uber Lyft 
10. Miami has some of the boldest men when it comes to the attempt of courting a lady 
11. You’ll probably run into someone famous at least twice if you’re paying attention
12. During Covid, Miami-Dade county has a curfew of 12am. Other parts of the state do not. 
13. Miami Beach traffic is worse than Seattle traffic, topped with angrier drivers who honk when people have the right away. 
14. There isn’t an Uber/Lyft in Miami who hasn’t honked for traffic to move at a red light. 
15. Pretty sure I saw Trick Daddy....and he still love the kids

What's up IMWK family and welcome to the first episode of Black History Month 2021.  Each week, I will have the pleasure of spending time with great black business entrepreneurs and community leaders.  We will speak about who they are, what they do, and their thoughts on what Black History Month means to them, Black leaders from past to present, and ideals on how we can close the wealth gap, and balance the table of equality.  Our first episode is with a great Tacoma community leader, Dominique Ervin aka Boeblast. 

Boe has been a pillar in the community since he was 15, and continues to spread laughter and joy through his comedy shows.  Boe is involved everything from coaching youth sports, motivational speaking at various venues, to owning a local barbershop called Ervins.

What's up guys!  We are almost a month into 2021 and people are full steam ahead.  There are many Americans who have lost their jobs with no additional options at this point.  Some are thinking of school, some may use this time to take a break, and others may be thinking about starting their own business.  I decided to bring my friend and entrepreneur Ciera Martin of the 'Random But Relevant' show to unpack her thoughts on black owned businesses  and entrepreneurship.  As a successful, black, female business owner, Ciera also gives us a few nuggets of what it takes to run a sustainable business, while sharing her new ventures 'Tiny & Sassy' clothing line, and her new podcast/live show 'Random but relevant.
