  • ILP 0026: Should I Go Back To School?
Being without the desired job role can be unnerving let alone the pressure of being without a job in a developed nation like Canada where bills are unforgiving. It is therefore understandable that new immigrants seek every possible avenue to get their preferred job. One of these is to go back to school. The question is do you really need to do this in order to secure a good job? In this episode, I gave my opinion on this popular question.

  • ILP 0024: Why I don't Believe in Gyms
A senior shared why his gym membership wasn’t working for him despite being at the gym every single day of this year. When he shared his experience, I caught what the challenge was and knew that I made the same mistake in one of my life goals. Don’t get me wrong, I tried but I ended up where I did not plan to be. The good news is, that is history and, in this episode, I shared a very simple straightforward technique that anyone can use right now to achieve their Canadian integration or immigration goal or any goal at that. It works. Listen on!

  • ILP 0023: Two Ways to Fart in Public and Get Away with It!
In this week’s episode I talked about how missing commitments (especially public ones) make you look bad like when you fart in public *closes eyes* even though you did not plan to. I did encourage listeners to not give up on themselves, learn from such embarrassments and move forward fighting for their Canadian dreams. Because it is worth it!

  • ILP 0022: My First French Kiss
Sometimes, our upbringing, life experiences and native culture condition us to see and approach life in specific ways. And there is nothing necessarily wrong with this. The challenge comes when this conditioning becomes a blind spot for us and we don't notice. This week, I illustrated this by sharing the culture shock that I experienced with the traditional French kiss and how that can be traced to my blind spot. I also encouraged listeners to look beyond other people's criticisms and judgments as they work hard to surmount the challenges they might be facing in different areas of their Canadian integration experience such as life, family, career or business. Enjoy it!

  • ILP 0021: Fight To Keep Your Dream Alive
According to John Greenleaf Whittier, "Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won if he'd stuck it out. Don't give up, though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup, And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown." This week, I am sharing the importance of fighting to keep our dreams alive. Enjoy this episode.

Today, I thought to share with you 111 important lessons that I have learned in my six years of integration into the Canadian system. This list is not ranked or grouped in any manner. • ILP 0019: My Canadian Immigration Story
I have come across several discussions debating why it may or may not be worth it immigrating to Canada. When asked, many who eventually succeeded would argue that immigrating to Canada is perhaps the best decision they made for themselves and their families. For those who are still struggling or who did not have a so great experience after landing in Canada, they would wonder why it ever makes sense for people to leave their "successful lives" behind in their country of birth and have to take up "survival jobs" or less gratifying professional jobs in Canada. Viewpoints will continue to vary depending on which side of the divide one prefers to stay. I have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly side of immigration but my story is still being written. I will also share my personal opinion on topics like survival jobs but kindly realize it will be biased since it is based on my personal experience, observation, interpretation, and perspective on life.

  • ILP 0018: Our Daily Choices
It has been said that the average person makes up to 35,000 decisions in a day. Making a choice involves decision making. As immigrants with lofty dreams, we will be saddled with making a lot of decisions as we integrate and grow our families, careers, and businesses. A lot of them are going to be unconscious yet with far-reaching consequences. It's been said that "decision-making is such a seamless brain process that we're usually unaware of it - until our choice results in unexpected consequences. Then we may look back and wonder, "Why did I choose that option?". Regardless, we may be free to make choices but we are certainly not free from the consequences - good or bad. Listen to this episode to discover how I made a wrong but unconscious choice that led to strong consequences which unfortunately got multiplied. We can be whoever we want to be but we need to improve our capacity to be better decision makers on a daily basis so we can change our outcome!
