Coach Doherty explains why sports depend on a level playing field, noting biological differences, competitive balance, and the precedent already set by banning performance-enhancing drugs. The conversation broadens into leadership, with Doherty emphasizing the need for courage, clarity, and common sense—qualities he says are missing in today’s public discourse. He points to Ronald Reagan’s ability to communicate tough truths simply and effectively as a model leaders should follow when addressing controversial but critical issues.
