It's 1996! Bret Hart is the world champion, Shawn Michaels is the ascendant babyface, Undertaker and Diesel are also around doin stuff, Mankind debuting soon. It's a busy time! And we're here to tell you all about it as we jump back into the build to Wrestlemania XII!
NEXT EPISODE: In Your House 6
WE MADE IT. And this run of utter garbage is capped off by. . .some really entertaining stuff! But we're both glad it's over. Listen as we recap the last half of Wrestlemania, AND quickly run down our awards for this strange but also extremely boring run of wrestling shows!
NEXT WEEK (or whenever we get around to it): We begin in earnest our sojourn through 1996 WWF.
We finally made it to the big one! The grandaddy of 'em all, the showcase of the immortals, the. . .fourth in a series of mostly very boring WWF shows from Madison Square Garden but at least this is easily the most historically noteworthy of them. And before we get to the first half of Wrestlemania, we discuss the utter dreck episode of SNL from the night before, hosted by Mr. T and Hulk Hogan, plus we share some overall SNL memories.
NEXT WEEK: The second half of Wrestlemania, plus awards!
It was nice of them to make the second half of the show a whole lot better! No particularly great matches, but lots of stars, an excellent angle, and some other fun/weird stuff!
NEXT WEEK: SNL from 3/30/85 and the first half of the first ever Wrestlemania!
These WWF MSG shows continue to be desperately boring!
It's the holiday season folks, so we're taking a little break from the mid-eighties WWF shows to watch some mid-nineties WWF shows! First a romp through the WWF VHS strategy guide for Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game. Next, Raw from 1/22/96, featuring a classic angle with Vader and Gorilla Monsoon, and then we discuss some modern wrestling running down our favorite stuff from 2021.
Not sure when the next show is gonna be, but when it comes we'll be reviewing War to Settle the Score, that's for sure!
Moolah vs. Richter was really bad!
NEXT WEEK: A holiday grab bag! Featuring Monday Night Raw from January 22, 1996 and whatever thing Manflurry ends up deciding on!
The first ever road to Wrestlemania barrels ever onward with a whole bunch of house show matches! Eventually this nearly three hour show got chopped up into a thirty minute broadcast for MTV and we still aren't sure if we'll be seeing any of the MTV stuff, or just the MSG Network stuff. Tune in next week to find out in part two I guess!
Man! It sure is a good thing Hulk Hogan came along when he did because everyone else on this show is extremely fucking boring! Enjoy!
NEXT WEEK: The Brawl to End It All
If you've ever wanted to know why it was so easy for Vince McMahon to put these promotions out of business, well, we have some answers for you on this week's episode! We could honest to goodness only handle one week of this so next time, as an act of catharsis, we'll begin our journey through what's generally credited with beginning the death spiral of territorial wrestling: The onset of a pair of Manias.
NEXT WEEK: WWF Madison Square Garden, January 23, 1984 headlined by Hulk Hogan challenging The Iron Sheik for the WWF Championship.
