On October 3, 1759, a company of nearly 120 men under the command of Major Robert Rogers attacked an Indian Village on the St. Francis River between Montreal and Quebec, killing most of the occupants and looting and burning the Jesuit Mission that supported the town. The loot taken from the church included gold candlesticks, coins, a gold calf, and a ten pound silver statuette of the Madonna holding the baby Jesus.
This was done during the French-Indian War, and as the raiding party escaped southward the French and their Indian allies the Abenaki were in hot pursuit of Rogers Rangers, who had hundreds of hard miles to cross and no food or supplies to support them. the Ranger party split up, many died, and much of the stolen treasure, including the Madonna, was lost in the New England wilderness. The historical value of the Silver Madonna, which has never been found- priceless. This is the story.

In 1909 the Phoenix Gazette published an incredible story about an archeological find, sponsored by the Smithsonian, of a cave within the Grand Canyon which supposed held a large store of artifacts thought to belong to an ancient civilization. The story quickly faded from sight, but was revived in the 70;s by certain authors seeking attention for exposing what they felt was a massive cover up being perpetrated by the Grand Canyon National Park and the Smithsonian. .In this story we discuss the original article describing the find, three audacious hoaxes pulled off in those times (over 100 years ago), and the truth regarding the origin of the Kincaid's Cave story.

#16 (OF 457) BEST OF 1001     KINCAID'S CAVE- EGYPTIAN RUINS IN THE GRAND CANYON?

Amelia Earhart and her co-pilot and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared in the Pacific Ocean on the next to last leg of her round-the-world flight on July 2nd, 1937, and the U.S. Navy, after an exhaustive search of the Pacific which did not include the Marshall islands, released a statement saying that Earhart and Noonan's Electra ran out of gas and crashed into the ocean somewhere near Howland Island, where the Coast Guard ship Itasca reported hearing her say they were running low on gas and could not see the island. Beginning on that day, July 2nd, dozens of radio transmissions from Earhart were heard over the next 6 days by radio receiver stations, military and civilian, hearing Earhart giving her call numbers and asking for rescue- yet no rescue was attempted and the reports were ignored.
In this episode we talk to Chris Williamson, Project Director of Chasing Earhart, regarding theories and information provided by the many Earhart experts who have provided research on this subject and others concerning Earhart's disappearance including Dave Horner, author of The Earhart Enigma, who we quote here in part.
