Imposter Syndrome - Talk & Meditation

Listen Later

Have you ever felt inadequate in your workplace? Have you ever had thoughts of “I’m not sure what I did to belong here”, or do you attribute your accomplishments to luck? Do you constantly set the bar higher for yourself to the point of overworking? If you answered Yes to any of these questions, you might suffer from Imposter Syndrome.

Just know: You’re not alone. People who are considered well-known and experts in their line of work still deal with feelings of being a fraud, and it’s largely responsible for our society placing self-worth on productivity and achievement. These feelings can be exacerbated if you had a parent or guardian who seldomly praised you, or if you are a part of a community of people who are underrepresented  – whether that be in a workplace setting, a hobby, or something else.

In the first part of this episode, I will delve into what Imposter Syndrome is and who experiences it. The second part, I will lead a short, guided meditation that focus on how to be with these feelings and not have them overtake you.
