Peter closes his letter with encouragement and exhortations: In order to faithfully endure hardships and safely arrive at home with Christ, his people need to remember their enemy, their calling, and their identity.

Churches equipped to endure suffering are those who are shepherded by faithful pastors. In these verses, Peter exhorts pastors to faithfully care for God's church, and paints a picture of what this kind of leadership will look like.
