Ever person and their dog these days claims that they're a Facebook marketing expert. Yes Karen, I get that you've spent $50 promoting your knitting page, but an expert that does not you make. Anyway, I've been selling ad space on Facebook before Facebook ads were even a thing (seriously), and one of the topics of this podcast is going to be me giving short and sweet tips about how to make your ads perform better, and earn you a higher ROI on all your campaigns. In today's episode, I'm chatting about emotion. Specifically, using facial emotion in the human subjects that appear in your ad imagery, to boost those all-important clickthrough rates. Emotion is something that's in-built into the human brain. After all, we're very emotional creatures in many regards - I'm known to be extremely emotional while watching the last season of Game Of Thrones (mostly anger, as to how they managed to destroy that show so badly). Before humans had complicated language, we communicated through body language, and facial emotion. And still, looking for these visual cues in another's face is something we're hardwired to notice. By placing extreme emotions on the faces of people in your Facebook ad images, you're likely going to seriously increase your ads CTR, however it's not as simple as that. Of course, testing is key, and there is one specific type of emotion that tends to sell better (which I'll talk about in this episode), though it'll all depend on what you're trying to sell, and who you're trying to sell it to.
