Does defensive rating matter to you? Do you know what it is? Why does it matter to you? Does it matter more than how teams actually score against your team? Does it matter more than which players actually gives up the most points on your team? I'm going to answer by using that actually happens on the court rather than what you believe happens but I'm also going to walk through defensive ratings of Hawks players in 2023, and current defensive stats of 2024. The last pre-season game of 2024 was against OKC. Close game, but the Hawks fall 104-99. Please pay attention as I continue to raise concerns about traits that have not been coached out of team from 2023. Will also discuss at the end the advantage of having a true backup point guard for Trae Young. I reviewed the final Heat game in 2023 where the Hawks lost by 6 points in double overtime. Did you watch? Because if you did, you saw how Butler and Herro and Jovic hurt the Hawks entire game including Highsmith off the bench. If Trae is the only reason Hawks lose games per his defense, how did Herro score 33, Butler score 25 and Jovic score 23 and the Heat hit 18 threes? Because Trae didn't play in that game.   In today's review, you'll see much of the same. And it's pre-season. After showing the Pacers and Sixers game, to keep seeing the same things is disturbing. I've discussed: not blocking out, not getting back on defense, not rotating, over helping, not contesting shots, no communication, not fighting through screens and more for a long time. These issues must be fixed for the Hawks to be true contenders in the Eastern Conference.   Be sure to subscribe to the IMTM Worldwide Radio Youtube page.
