There really isn’t a bigger, more important community event in Kawartha Lakes than the Lindsay Exhibition, right? Oh, hang on. Maybe the….No, we got it right. Yup, the LEX is it. And it has been for more than 170 years. Heck, we don’t even need this space to describe what it offers.  But we would like to introduce you to four people who are such an integral part of the LEX’s past, present and future.

It’s more than just a thrift shop, really. Because every purchase – from kitchen knick-knacks to designer clothing - goes towards helping women and their children fleeing abuse. And that support for Women’s Resources isn’t lost on the customers who shop Vicky’s Values for that special find. But it’s also a store that emanates joy and kindness and positivity – from the staff, but also from its shoppers.

Julia Taylor knew she couldn’t make drastic changes to a Fenelon Falls institution when she purchased Country Cupboard. The bulk food store had been beloved by locals and cottagers for decades. But she still managed to put her own personal stamp on the store, especially when it comes to espousing – and practicing – her strong environmental beliefs. We bring you the story of the Fenelon Falls native, who's known as much for her social consciousness as she is for operating the area’s coolest frozen yogurt machine!

In Good Company has always been about people - the ones who make Kawartha Lakes feel like a community, not just a city on a map. So it only makes sense that when we set out to celebrate Classics on Kent, we didn't point our mic at the cars. We pointed it at the people behind them.

Every year, on the third Sunday of July, Lindsay's main street transforms into a rolling museum of antique vehicles - and a whole lot of joy, nostalgia, and neighbours catching up. This year, it's also a lifeline for Kawartha Lakes Food Source, raising funds and food donations that matter well beyond the one day. Classics on Kent is presented by Wards Lawyers, but it comes together because of people who show up, year after year, to help make it happen.

In this special episode, we introduce you to four of them. In their own words - true to how this show has always worked - they tell us what the day means to them, and share a personal car memory of their own.

Classics on Kent takes place Sunday, July 19th, in downtown Lindsay.

Adam Deschenes had to make a move – literally. And when he went looking for a new location for his Spectrum Fitness Centre, he admits his options were limited. His eventual choice – a former rental business on Lindsay’s Queen Street – initially raised eyebrows from some of his closest and most trusted supporters; they questioned whether the fitness/business entrepreneur was up to the challenge of a major transformation. How Adam met that challenge is a story of not just his hard work and perseverance - but of community spirit and clients stepping up to give back to the man they believe has given them so much.
