Chandi Rae is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana and teen mom turned self-made entrepreneur with two decades in the beauty industry as a managing cosmetologist. She accredits her innovative trailblazing nature to her experience as an “Army Brat” where she lived among diverse cultures in Europe. Chandi’s passion for personal development has taken root as she is inspiring others to tell their story and live the life of their dreams through her company Edge Luxe Image Consulting LLC, Vanish Board [TM] Workshop, Image Is Inside Out [TM] Women’s Empowerment, virtual coaching, and A Grown Conversation [TM] Talk Show. Her mission is to change negative self-perceptions.

The In Her Space community welcomes The Afrocentric Social Worker Podcast hosted by Manicka Thomas LISW. Manicka discusses the topic of mental health awareness and the impact that it can have in making changes in our communities. She discusses the importance of African Americans being the center of the solution driven outcomes that impact our families and most importantly our children.  Manicka is a licensed social worker with experience in working with children and families overcome social hurdles and providing supportive tools to help them achieve their goals.   The Afrocentric Social Worker Podcast will be a welcome addition to In Her Space and we are excited about what is to come!!! Manicka Thomas is the CEO of Thomas Community Consulting LLC, a Continuing Education and Professional Development company that offers workshops and training to address issues impacting the African American community from a culturally relevant perspective.

With over 10 years of experience, her work with youth and families spans from working with head start children and parents to supporting rising high school Seniors in completing college level coursework for graduation. She is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Social Work Program at Sinclair Community College. Her primary interests as an educator are Cultural Competence, Afrocentricity as a Model for Social Change, and African American youth development and behavior.

She graduated in 2005 from Freed-Hardeman University (Tennessee) with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She continued her education at The Ohio State University, receiving a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in School Social Work in 2006. Manicka is also a Licensed Social Worker for the State of Ohio.

Irene Wade interviews, Janel Lanae founder of "Head to Toe Beauty & Co.: Beauty Redefined". Head to Toe Beauty & Co. defines beauty as a light that shines from within a person from entities such as their character and evolution, while still recognizing the importance of it reflecting onto their exterior image through self-care. Janel is on a mission to impact the lives of women and to support organizations that do the same. She is hosting an Event Breathtakingly Black an exposition of the Black Queen. Hosted by the lovely JiGi Deniro, this breathtaking event features 3 full runway sets, LIVE performing artists, professional dancers, LIVE music, giveaways, and more. 

Proceeds will benefit the amazing "Ebony Pearls" ; a nonprofit organization based in Dayton, Ohio that focuses on striving to create environments conducive to the education and growth of young girls in the community. They instill a sense of obligation in each girl to be successful, productive, uplifting, service minded individuals.

Irene Wade interviews Ashley Browning founder and visionary of So Loved a project based organization in the Dayton community.  She discusses legacy and how those closest to her has made an impact on her life.  She is on a mission to pour into the lives of other young people who are making a difference in the community.  Her upcoming event So Love Night of Giving  (Saturday December 9, 2017 at 7pm) brings together the community to benefit Polished Girlz an organization that benefits women hospitlized with beauty products to inspire and uplift them.   For more information about So Loved and future events go to www.solovedj316.com. 

Ashley N. Browning is a graduate of Kentucky State University, where she received a BA in Criminal Justice and a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she received her Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling. Recently, she received her certification in Chemical Dependency from Union College.

In 2013, Ashley moved back to Dayton, Ohio and started, SoLoved, a project based organization that is committed to assisting different populations in the local community through outreach and monthly initiatives. The focal scripture of the organization is John 3:16. Which states that God SOLOVED the world that HE gave…; which encourages us to give. Through Ashley’s leadership and execution of various community focused events and initiatives, SoLoved has been able to meet the needs in the community, not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

Ashley’s most recent endeavor of starting her own business, Browning Enterprises, LLC, where she will continue to serve her community as a non-for-profit and small business consultant and independent contractor. Ashley is inspired to continue the legacy of her grandfather, Harry C. Browning.

MC, Mitch Dunbar aka Mitch D. made a solid name for himself as a writer and rhyme spitter. Irene Wade interviews  Tyrone Givens,best selling author, of The Bennu Project. He discusses how he infuses this science fiction work with historical facts in order to engage and educate readers.  He also discusses his passion for community and family and how that has impacted his writings.  He is joined in the studio with his wife, two sons and his mentor Valerie Coleman.  An awesome interview that reveals the heart of the writer and his passion to impact the lives of readers in a positive way.
