Today, I honor the life and legacy of my father on his birthday. Losing him 15 years ago (I accidently said 14 in the episode) was one of the deepest pains I've known, but God’s strength carried me through. I admired so much about him — especially the way he loved my mother, with a selfless, steady, and sacrificial love — the way Christ loves the Church.

In this episode, I reflect on his life, the lessons he left behind, and how the Lord became my anchor in grief. His example continues to shape my heart, and his love lives on in our family.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

Join me as I remember my dad, celebrate his legacy, and testify to the strength God gives in the midst of sorrow.

Today would have been my mom’s birthday. As I walk through the ache of missing her, I'm reminded that even in our deepest sorrow, God's strength carries us. In this heartfelt episode of In His Strength, I share what it feels like to grieve with hope, remembering the woman who always believed in me. I can still hear her words: “If anyone can do it, you can do it!”—a reminder that God often speaks through the ones who love us most.

Even though she’s no longer here, her faith and encouragement continue to echo in my heart. Through tears, memories, and the strength only God can give, I’ve learned how to keep going.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”              2 Corinthians 12:9

Whether you’re walking through loss or standing beside someone who is, I pray this episode brings comfort and reminds you that God is near to the brokenhearted.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of my mom—for her love, her strength, and the way she always believed in me. On what would have been her birthday, my heart aches with missing her, but I cling to the truth that You are close to the brokenhearted and that Your strength is made perfect in weakness.

Lord, for every listener walking through grief, I pray Your comfort surrounds them. Let them feel Your nearness in the silence, Your peace in the tears, and Your hope in the moments that feel too heavy to carry.

Help us to remember that our loved ones are never truly gone when they’ve known You—they are safe in Your presence, and we will see them again. Until then, help us live with courage, walk in faith, and lean on Your everlasting arms.

We trust You. We need You. We love You.

Today, I have the privilege of having Nana Lisa as our guest.  She is a mom, wife and nana.  She has two grandsons.  She worked for many years but now she takes care of her grandson.  She was not raised in church and thought God was just a picture on the wall.  She was saved at 19.  If she doesn’t have her grandson, she spends time with her daughter and other grandson.  She loves sitting on her porches and creating TikToks in her spare time.  She loves the Lord and relies on Him daily.  She says “If not for Him I may not have been here today”.

Welcome to the In His Strength Podcast.  I am Cindy, founder of the Faithful to the Mantle ministry.  I am here to bring you stories of encouragement and offer scripture and prayer to help you find your way through anything.  I will welcome guests who have overcome, In His Strength, the trials you are experiencing.  

 If you feel discouraged, confused, sad or lost in your current situation, you are in the right place.  Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”  I am going to challenge you to surrender your worries, wants and wishes to God.  I will encourage you to lay your burdens down before Him and let Him carry them for you.  

Before I was 5 years old, my grandmother told me she saw me on my knees praying for the Lord to come into my life and save me.  Fast forward to 2002 when she passed away.  I was holding her hand as she left this world.  My pastor at the time said he felt she passed her “mantle” to me.  I had no idea what he was talking about.  He explained the story of Elijah and Elisha to me.  To be honest, this startled me a little.  My grandmother led over 500 people to the Lord.  I instantly thought that I am not qualified for her mantle.  Many years after my grandmother’s death, the Lord started tapping me on my shoulder.  It was an insistent tap!  I knew He wanted me to do something for Him.  I started an Instagram page to give others encouragement.  I named it “Faithful to the Mantle”.  Then, I felt led to create a shirt that asked, “How can I pray for you?” and wear it in public.   I never felt I was good at praying out loud, but the Lord wanted me to do this.  It took me out of my comfort zone.  Over the years I have met people all over the country and prayed for them.  I now post videos and offer prayer to many.  I feel very strongly that God wants me to share a message with you: In His Strength, you can overcome.  In His Strength, you can be healed.  In His Strength, you can feel joy.
