We know that social media is a necessary evil as an actor and today we’re talking all about it!  We discuss how useful social media is to us, our fears and anxieties regarding putting our lives online, and how much we share (or don’t share).  Is social media a place to compare yourself to others and feel down about your life, or is it just another space to find support from other actors?  Listen as McKenna addresses all of Tamara’s reasons for her resistance to using social media.  Warning: things gets heated.

Actors get very little feedback and direction. It’s just part of the job. In the rare moments that you do get feedback, is there such a thing as too much? In this episode, we discuss getting feedback along with the topic of patience- how much we have, and how this particular lifestyle can affect patience in other aspects of life. As actors, we feel pressure to say yes to every project- you never know what one job might lead to.  But not every project is worth taking.  In this episode we chat about knowing the value of your work and advocating for it; there are certain things that we look for in order to make sure we’re getting just as much from a film as the film is getting from us.  But sometimes advocating for yourself can be scary because you don’t want to jeopardize your reputation or look unprofessional.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions, involve your agent, or even say no.  What does it take for you to accept a role?

Sometimes it isn’t as bad as you think, and sometimes even if you feel like you’re giving Meryl Streep, you aren’t.  It won’t always be Oscar-worthy material, but there will always be a positive takeaway.

experiences having jobs as actors. A flexible schedule is vital to survive as

an actor, and finding a job that caters to the lifestyle can be challenging. On

top of balancing work and acting jobs, finding time for friends, family, a

relationship, and yourself is a struggle. Is it worth working a 9-5 job with

benefits and set pay, or Tetris-ing your work schedule to pursue your creative
