1 hr 17 min - Episode 6: The Stuff of Stories
Join me and friend of the podcast (Tom Emanuel) as we discuss the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Rummaging around in the stuff of stories, we talk about Middle Earth of course but also stumble into notions of immanence and transcendence, the differences between religious and secular stories, and what it might mean to embrace a "hopeful hopelessness". There's also a mostly-inadvertent-but-totally-moving sermon about halfway through.
