In 1492, Columbus set sail for India, but what he found instead was a new world full of people. The Natives of the New World had different cultures and a different worldview than the European explorers. For many of these American civilizations their myths and stories were recorded by the explorers. But on the island of Hispaniola Fray Ramon Pané recorded the customs and myths of the Taino people.
