This special presentation of In The Country with Dave Woods features interviews - and music - with Michelle Wright, Beverley Mahood, Patricia Conroy & Carolyn Dawn Johnson. On Saturday, August 10th in Exeter, Ontario, these four ladies of Canadian Country Music (and beyond) shared the stage to play their hits in an acoustic concert.

WILL ARDELL grew up on a farm in Rock Point, Saskatchewan, amidst a strict, religious, and modest upbringing. He began writing poetry at a young age, placing first in a national competition and later placing internationally in his teens. Due to the confines of the religious culture in which he was raised, Will did not learn to play guitar until he was 19 years of age. Fast forward to present: He wrote all the songs on the double CD All About the Ride/Leaving (with the exception of one co-written track). Will received5 2013 Saskatchewan Country Music Association nominations (Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year and Rising Star). He took home the Rising Star Award.

Kate Taylor & Kendall Turnbough started writing songs in Nashville, Tennesse in 2011. A writing relationship rapidly turned into a performance relationship as they realized blending their voices sounded dynamic and smooth all at the same time. As they were asked to open for many acts Burns & Poe, Restless Heart, Point of Grace & Phil Keaggy, they decided they needed a band name and CHERRY RAIN was born. Paying tribute to the "cherry state" where Kate grew up and choosing a name that portrays "colors" was important to them as they feel their voices and lyrics are colorful and display their many influences from Country, Pop and MoTown.

The Magna Hoedown Showdown is a talent competition that takes place September 6th through 8th at Aurora's Ribfest in Aurora, Ontario. The 1st place winner of the Hoedown Showdown will receive $1000 in cash, a guitar of their choice from Yamaha worth $1000 AND a performance at the 25th Annual Magna Wild Wild West Hoedown on September 14th in Aurora. All proceeds go to various charities and non-profit organizations in York Region. This is an event that has in previous years featured performances by Country stars Paul Brandt, Emerson Drive, Aaron Lines, and many others! Entries for the Showdown must be received by July 31, 2013. Head to www.hoedown.ca for rules & regulations - and to enter!  This special features past Showdown winner Kirsten Jones along with one of this year's Showdown judges Country artist Beverley Mahood (her current Country single Hope and Gasoline is a radio hit & the video is up for a CCMA award).

Ontario Country artist GRAHAM TRUDE is an avid outdoorsman who shares his love of life through his music and passion for his country through his lyrics. He developed a love of Country music at a young age, listening to the songs of Brooks 'n Dunn, Garth Brooks and various artists who made a lasting impact on him. It wasn't long before he began writing and performing his own music. As a hard-core patriot, Graham’s life took a turn in 2007 after joining the Canadian Forces, but he never lost touch with his love of music. While posted as a member of the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadian’s) Tank Regiment in Edmonton, Alberta, his music career really began to flourish. He began writing about his journey thoughout Canada and the developments of his life through the forces and experiences which he had overcome. Graham took his love of music with him wherever he went including his training in provinces across Canada and further to Dubai, Germany and Kandahar, Afghanistan where he was on mission fighting as a front line soldier. During special Thanksgiving & Christmas events in Afghanistan, Graham shared songs and music with many others so far from home which was moral boosting and relatable to many soldiers. Tune in as Graham shares stories and some songs including his popular radio single Redneck Pride.
