Born in Sudan, and bred in Edmonton Canada, Mouraine is a name to pay attention to. His debut EP, Bigger Dreams, was released in 2021, and received props from Complex, The Source, CBC, Earmilk, Exclaim!, RANGE, If It’s Too Loud, Hip Hop Canada and more.
Mouraine learned to speak English through his appetite for music and returns with his latest project 'In Search Of Gold'. In this interview, we talk about his first time hearing hip-hop and some of his early Edmonton influences.
He discusses some of the more introspective lyrics on the album and how he views himself as the underdog. Mouraine talks about being too numb to celebrate his success, he shares an imperative gem for Wednesday Wisdom and settles the cat vs. dog debate.
