Dave Wedekindt, who was recently named Interim President of Artpark in Lewiston, NY joined Rockabilly Greg in the Flamingo Lounge on April 27 to talk about music and music promotion.

Dave joined the Artpark team in 2018 as Director of Marketing & Sales, bringing extensive experience in performing arts marketing, sales, communications, programming, sponsorship and development to the organization. He was promoted to Vice President of Concerts & Marketing in 2021, then to Vice President in 2022, and recently as Interim President in April 2024. Previously he was the Director of Marketing for the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts in Amherst, NY for 15 years, preceded by five years as Associate Director of Marketing for the CFA. He started his career as Associate Director of Development for Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, NY. A strong advocate for the arts, he also serves on the Board of Directors of MusicalFare Theatre and is past President of the Board of Directors for Arts Services Inc. He holds an MBA from the University at Buffalo and BS in Business Administration from SUNY Fredonia. Dave resides in Amherst with his wife Susan and his interests include bicycling, playing the saxophone, and attending live performances.

This week’s guest, Bob James, is a veteran of local groups such as the Restless, the Rain, Third Floor Strangers, and many more, Bob has used basic rock and roll as a canvas to portray some of life’s deepest feelings. A member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, class of 2008, he is known more for his contributions to area music as a promoter and producer. He owned his own studio, Maxwell Music, and produced the legendary “We Killed McKinley” and “This Is It” compilation albums.

His discography spans over 50 years as a performer. He is a guitarist, producer at Buffalo Blues, LLC, Team Leader at 211Vets and Lead Trainer / Program Designer at Power of Song, Inc. He has also been spearheading the movement to get a Memorial Plaque for McVan’s Nightclub. And he’s a hell of a carpenter too.

Bob joined Rockabilly Greg in the Lounge on April 25, 2024 to talk about his illustrious career and many projects he is currently managing.

Inspired by local cultures, their instrumentation ranges from accordions to electric guitars, creating a unique blend of the old and the new. While performing original material, the group also puts their own spin on traditional and contemporary songs alike. They produce both up-tempo songs and ballads, reimagining favorites from across the musical spectrum, from polka and Celtic punk to Americana, Eastern European folk, folk-rock, ska, and everything in between.

This week’s guest, Kenny Thomasula, sat down with Rockabilly Greg In the Flamingo Lounge on Saturday, April 6, 2024 for a fun conversation on music.

Kenny has been professionally involved in music since 1970. He has worked in a series of bands ranging from Hernandez, Junction West and his own Kenny Thomasula & Breakthru. Kenny, a vocalist who also plays percussion and piano, has done countless radio commercials, performed national anthems at numerous sporting events and worked on many albums.

Fellow Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Mike Caputy, has described his voice as “Stylistically, his vocal deliverance covers every genre of music from rock ‘n’ roll, top-40 to rhythm & blues and jazz. His talent in the studio has enabled him to maintain a long-standing reputation for giving his listeners exactly what they want.”

Kenny has also been a consistent supporter of area charities as a performer in countless benefit shows and in volunteering services to groups such as Locks of Love and Camp Good Days and Special Times.

You may know this week’s guest from many places. If you were in the Fredonia area in the mid 80’s, you’ll know him as a DJ from BJ’s. You may know him from his days at Record Theatre. You may him as "The guy from Home of The Hits". Or you may know him as the DJ from the Old Pink “who plays the best music you’ve never heard”. Many know him simply as “EVR”.

Eric visited the Lounge on March 25, 2024 and reminisced about his early days in music, his time at SUNY Fredonia and the many projects he has been involved in over the years. It is very fitting that this episode was launched on Record Store day, 2024. Take a walk back in time and enjoy some great stories from "EVR".

This week's guests In the Flamingo Lounge are Oscar Woodrich and Maegan Jones from Smac! We had a great conversation on music and, as an added bonus, Smac! Debuted the Flamingo Lounge mix of the first song off their new EP "Liar" which will be out Fall of 2024.

This week’s guest In the Flamingo Lounge, Marcangelo Perricelli, is a highly accomplished composer and songwriter whose music has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. Throughout his career, Perricelli has received widespread recognition for his exceptional talent and innovation in the music industry. His compositions have been featured in numerous films, television shows, and commercials, adding depth and emotion to various visual productions. Additionally, he has collaborated with renowned artists and musicians, further solidifying his status as a prominent figure in the contemporary music scene. Marcangelo is a member of BMI as well as the Niagara Falls Music Hall of Fame and has also received The Lifetime Achievement award for his outstanding commitment and service to music education and performance in the community.

This week’s guest In the Flamingo Lounge, Taylor Belling, grew up in Williamsville. He went to Kent State University because he was a big Neil Young fan. At Kent State he sang in the choir, had a barbershop quartet and started a band and he ended up touring with a blues band. He lived in Akron Ohio seeing The Black Keys around at the bars as they were all coming up together. He then moved back to Buffalo and started selling guitars at guitar center and then running his own vintage business expanding into motorcycles and hi-fi.

This week’s guests, Johnny Hart and Kooks, from Johnny Hart and the Mess, celebrate the history of rock n roll while paving the way for a new era. With influences from across the board, the band has its roots soaked in rock, but wanders off the beaten bath and delves into various veins of music and sound. Most fittingly is the "Alt Rock" nomenclature because it is so broadly defined. At any given point, the band can sound like a pop band, a blues band, a country band, a jam band or a funk band.  Suppose it depends on the day, the night and the crowd.

They have shared the stage with Fitz and the Tantrums, Shaed, Grace Potter, The Sheepdogs, Andy Frasco, Neal Francis, Joey Harkum and many more.

This week’s guest in the Flamingo Lounge, Tony Zambito, is a familiar face in the local jazz scene. Tony visited the Flamingo Lounge on February 20, 2024 and shared his stories.

Tony is the music coordinator for the Northwest Jazz Festival in historic Lewiston New York. He is also an avid jazz fan and musician in the band “My Cousin Tone’” and is the Founder and Executive Director of JazzBuffalo, a non-profit organization dedicated to building jazz awareness and jazz appreciation in the Buffalo and WNY area.
