In the Gutters

The first part of Turk182's and Wallcrawler One's discussion on Marvel's Secret Wars limited series. Starting with the first 12 issue series, they go over the how it all began, and the basic plot. From there, they focus on the individual moments that made the first Secret Wars such an icon story.

This was the first time The Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men had come together and fought side by side (not including one off team versus team, single issue stories). The series served as launching point for major changes in many of the comics - from She Hulk joining the Fan. Four, Hulk reverting to a more savage version of himself, and Spider-Man's alien symbiote. Plus, character defining moments for the heroes and villains.

Listen as we breakdown the first Secret Wars down, and show why it's parts are greater than the whole.

In The Gutters is a podcast about celebrating comic books, their creators, the influence they've had on readers, and everything that makes them great.

Part 3 of the 3 part first episode. Turk182 and Wallcrawler One (WC) wrap up their opening discussion on what made them comic book fans. In this episode, they talk about the magic, genius, and insanity of Chris Claremont's run on Uncanny X-Men. Turk takes up the discussion with the life he breathed into each character. How he gave consequences to all their actions, and made the death of a character something to fear, and not a gimmick to build fake suspense or drama.
