In The Hole

Emmett Jorgensen was forced to do all sorts of things today, including but not limited to this very podcast episode. He is thoughtful and articulate and reliving this conversation through editing was a joy. A maker, a brilliant mind, a gift, this is Emmett Jorgensen In The Hole.

Taj is the coolest person I know. He is an artist based in Brooklyn. If you’re also in NYC and walking around you might be able to spot his work. We talk about big ideas like the impact of graffiti, the importance of community, and the state of Texas. Check out BÏND. Follow your swag. Get outside.

Sam Froum is a comic and my youngest guest yet. I talked a bit too much, topics including Gary Gulman, open mic etiquette, and how to make friends. Sam is one of my favorite comedians, certainly one to keep an eye on. He’s not even in the hole anymore and he can’t even legally drink yet.

King Skayla is a gorgeous and incredibly articulate model based in New York City. Due to a scheduling conflict, we had to cut this episode short. We discuss conscious use of social media, thoughtful structure of reputation, and to be or not to be a yes man as part of Gen Z. All in less than twenty minutes; How in the hole is that! Let this be a teaser until our schedules line up again. Part two coming soon...

Gabe Santos loves this city. An improvisor and sneaky genius scientist currently based in New York City originally from Brazil. He comes with hope, he comes with optimism, he comes with insight. He is one of the four on Broken Couch Improv and can be found at Dream Couch Rotation shows. Live in the moment with him! Until then… remember that improv is life. And also that it may be best source your focaccia from local professionals.

Some true In The Hole wisdom: better late than never! Trailers should maybe come first, but I just hit the ground running too fast… sigh…

Here is a trailer and introduction to Season 1, also known as the Rookie Season, of In The Hole. This project has already been such a joy to work on. Thank you to everyone who has made In The Hole happen by being a guest, loaning me equipment, teaching me new skills, sharing their skills with me, and, most of all, providing thoughtful and enthusiastic feedback.

I am learning how to do a lot of this as I go and loving every step of the process. I’m in it for the love of the game, truly. Thank you for listening to In The Hole.

Episodes are released every Friday on Apple, Spotify, and YouTube.

Zane Roth is In The Hole. Dayenu. Roth is an improv snob turned Marty Supreme lover. We discuss The TikTokification of Improv and what it truly means to have a love of the game. I am lucky to know such a pure ray of sunshine. His optimism and drive inspires all who know him. In times of need, always remember, WWRD (What Would Roth Do?).

When and where to find Broken Couch Improv is posted on Instagram at @brokencouchimprov. Roth & Santos will be part of the twoprov tournament (run by UCB) starting May 14th at the QED. I anticipate they will also be at the next rounds at The Rat and UCB in the weeks to follow (May 18th, 20th, and 24th).
