Kala Masters – Artist Bio
With influences from across the music spectrum, Kala Masters is impossible to compare. Bold and unique, her creative melodies and genre-blending style are establishing a new sound in electro-pop and alternative hip-hop. Authentically original, her soulful songs offer smooth rhythms to soothe the body, mind, and spirit. Her ethereal vocals mix with metro booming bass, resulting in a powerful and intriguing sound. Based in Round Rock, Texas near the Austin music scene, she is ushering in a revolutionary sound and breaking from the status quo.
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Kala Masters learned to play the piano in elementary school. Soon after, Kala began singing too. She was highly interested in R&B and hip-hop melodies and found inspiration in female vocalists like Rihanna and Beyonce for their strong voices in the industry. In high school, Kala began writing her own songs and sharing them with her friends. Influenced by Lana Del Rey, her style developed with an electro-pop vibe, making her songs unique. She gained experience performing at local venues and even appeared on a Snake Saturday Parade float, singing for crowds at this Kansas City area St. Patrick’s Day tradition. Working with a producer in a professional studio, Kala recorded her first album. Putting a major project together was challenging, but the music was fun. Although it may seem like a hobby, Kala treated it like a job and devoted herself to learning through the process. Her sound evolved, utilizing unique dance aspects. Highly versatile, her music is appealing to a wide array of audiences. Released on her EP, 12:34, the alternative-dance hit, “Million Grand,” was featured on various radio stations including 96.5 The Buzz Alternative, 90.9 Alternative, 105.9 Kiss FM, and more. From the same project, her upbeat, fun, and empowering pop song, “I Don’t Need You,” gained nearly 50k listens.
Interested in many subjects, Kala Masters remains focused on her education. In 2015, she attended The University of Central Missouri to complete a 2-year program with a concentration in production, music technology, and audio engineering. With several fields of interest, she is now going to school for nursing, balancing her creative work and continuing education. Extensive knowledge allows her to open unique aspects in her songs. Anything she studies for a length of time ends up in her music. The themes for her lyrics are pulled from the natural world, and Kala Masters draws inspiration from the beach, the planet, and outer space. Of both Native American and Scottish descent, she comes from a diverse cultural background, which is also incorporated into her creative work. She is highly aware of an artist’s ability to take their culture, knowledge, and art to spread awareness on issues like educating women and children in developing countries. She uses her own music to translate culture and embrace others. Through her work and travels, she is reaching people of different backgrounds and making deep human connections. She travels often in a never-ending effort to expand and explore.
Alluring, unique, and bold, Kala Masters is empowering audiences with her vibrantly funky vibes and fun energy. With proper promotion and a dedicated team behind her, she is building a greater fanbase and reaching a wider audience. Kala is taking her work to the next level and is currently preparing her second career album for release. Filled with a strong work ethic and highly motivational energy, she encourages others to pursue whatever they are passionate about. It is possible to make anything happen for yourself.
