HAPPY SWALLOWING AWARENESS DAY!! Today in the Up + Coming Speechies in the loop episode we are so EXCITED to be chatting to the incredible Dr Ianessa Humbert!  Dr Humbert is a swallowing expert, researcher, professor and of course speech pathologist. She is also co-creator of the wonderful podcast, Down the Hatch and co-founder of STEP, swallowing training and education portal. Dr Humbert is based in Washington DC, so this interview was an early one, but such a good one! In this episode we chat about Dr Humbert’s pathway to swallowing, overcoming clinician comfortability and ensuring accountability and patient centred care, and the need for more training and universal evidenced based practice within dysphagia management. We cannot explain how inspired we felt after our discussion with Dr Humbert, and we hope  you're left feeling the same way after giving the episode a listen!
