In The Scene: Indie Arcade Wave

This week on In The Scene we dive into a new indie game called Street Cleaner. This is an interesting one due to the fact that the game and artist that came out of it Street Cleaner 82 started this whole project by creating a fake movie script with a synthwave soundtrack. Jesse and Brooks have been working together and helping each other achieve their goals for years and make an awesome team.

This week we look into a favorite of mine, Super Cable Boy. This game was created by Sebastian Lieb out of Germany. Super Cable Boy is a fast-paced platformer that has cartridges that give you additional powers and an environment. This is one you can try right now on steam.

This week on in the scene we speak with our South American friends over at Videogamo, This time it's about Dobotone. This game is an awesome party game. It would fit well in an arcade bar and is more fun the more people you have playing. Having very simple controls anyone can pick this up and play in minutes.

This awesome underwater-themed arcade is a must-visit in New Orleans. Sea Cave has a great story about how it was created, you can hear from Judah all of the things they went through to open up.

Started out as a little art project and turned into an all-out arcade. Go check it out if you are ever around St. Claude, New Orleans.

This is a creation from Amanda Hudgins and friends where you are thrown into an arena with 50 buttons for you and 50 buttons for your opponent and every button does something. That's all you know. What do you know of Skycurser? This awesome indie game was created in Indianapolis by a few friends that were looking to take on a new project. We speak with Christopher Cruz their Art Director about how the game came to be.

This retro-inspired shut em up will steal your attention for the art alone, not to mention the fantastic gameplay. If you are looking for a new game that feels like a classic you have found it. This week we hear the story of Dangerzone Arcade out of Arizona. This is a story of a fan of Killer Queen being sick of driving an hour just to play so he bought a cabinet for himself. This then turned into collecting other indie arcade games to place in local bars. This the shutdowns he had to act fast and find a way to make money off the games. Rentals, now you can bring these games home for a month or you can play the at Star Fighters Arcade.

He has Killer Queen, DeathBall, Galactic Battleground, Cosmotrons, and a bunch of Pinballs. what more could you need for an arcade?
