  • 051: Contactless Payments.
Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay are just a few of the ways the we can pay just by a tap -- let's not forget Speedpass or credit cards that allow payment as well. Security is at the forefront of Apple and Android pay because each system generates a secure token that stands in place of your real credit card number, which adds a layer of security to each transaction. Are you using Contactless Payments? ||

  • 050: What is machine learning?
Machine learning is a field of computer science that uses statistical techniques to give computer systems the ability to "learn" (i.e., progressively improve performance on a specific task) with data, without being explicitly programmed. Why does Apple, Google and others want to have better machine learning technolgies? We are all giving companies our data to some degree -- but what if the data we provide can turn around and proactively give us things in return? That's what it's all about. ||

  • 049: If Google is that bad, stop using their services.
Fearmongering from Apple fans is rampant in the technology industry. Those so terrified of what Google knows, yet willing to dump and store any and everything within one of Apple's services. If you truly care about privacy, you wouldn't freely trust any company. This is what you call a bias. There are alternatives and if you dislike and distrust Google so much. Stop using their services. Don't perform a Google search ever again, don't click send in GMail, take all of your files out of Google Drive and never backup another photo to Google Photos....if it's that bad. || Let's continue our discussion! • 046: Use a Password Manager!!
It seems like every other day we are hearing about a company having a breach of client data. Protect yourself. Utilizing a password manager, whether online or offline can be a huge defense against attackers by differentiating your password across each site you use. Several options are LastPass, KeyPass, 1Password, Dashlane and more....each offering their own unique spins, yet each accomplishing the same goal. • 045: Apple March 2018 Education Event Breakdown Pt. 2
If you haven't listened to part 1 of my Apple Event coverage, please do so. In part 2, I take a look at what Apple could've done in terms of pricing and focus with this new iPad. The classroom management features seem to bring Apple's approach up to par with Google; however, the cost to deploy one iPad with Pencil and a case can be almost $450, while a Chromebook will cost one third of that. Did Apple miss the mark? Read my coverage here: https://dexjohnspc.com/2018/03/28/apple-march-2018-education-event-breakdown/ ||

  • 043: iPhone X demand down?
iPhone X, Apple's $1000 baby, that's set to revolutionize the mobile space.....has falling demand -- and I'm glad. Here's why, there is no reason to charge this much for a smartphone, which places you into a small bubble and puts constraints on how you get work done. How much is a solid laptop these days? With lower demand, will this force Apple to see the error of it's ways? ||
