Episode #12: Pontypool

Mrs. French's cat is missing. The signs are posted all over town. "Have you seen Honey?" We've all seen the posters, but nobody has seen Honey the cat. Nobody. Until last Thursday morning, when Miss Colette Piscine swerved her car to miss Honey the cat as she drove across a bridge. Well this bridge, now slightly damaged, is a bit of a local treasure and even has its own fancy name; Pont de Flaque. Now Collette, that sounds like Culotte. That's Panty in French. And Piscine means Pool. Panty pool. Flaque also means pool in French, so Colete Piscine, in French Panty Pool, drives over the Pont de Flaque, the Pont de Pool if you will, to avoid hitting Mrs. French's cat that has been missing in Pontypool. Pontypool. Pontypool. Panty pool. Pont de Flaque. What does it mean? Well, Norman Mailer, he had an interesting theory that he used to explain the strange coincidences in the aftermath of the JFK assasination. In the wake of huge events, after them and before them, physical details they spasm for a moment; they sort of unlock and when they come back into focus they suddenly coincide in a weird way. Street names and birthdates and middle names, all kind of superfluous things appear related to each other. It's a ripple effect. So, what does it mean? Well... it means something's going to happen. Something big. But then, something's always about to happen.

Episode #11: Se7en

When it came out in 1995, David Fincher's 'Se7en' noir-ish, ultra-stylish take on the serial killer genre horrified and delighted audiences in equal measure. It took home the MTV Movie Award, landed Brad Pitt the prestigious Most Desirable Male Award, and ensured we would never look at same day delivery the same way again.

26 years later, will the Incantation hosts still find that 'Se7en' packs a punch or will it seem like a relic of '90s cinema?(Spoiler alert: It won't). Will that ending still pack a punch? (It certainly does) And how will Lynn react when she finally finds out what's in the box?

Episode #10: It Follows

Incantation is back! This time, we're looking at psychological horror and we're kicking it off with an indie darling from 2014: David Robert Mitchell's 'It Follows'.

This creepy, stylish film follows (heh) Jay, a college student who discovers she's being pursued by a supernatural entity after a sexual encounter.

2014 was a spectacular year for indie horror. We got It Follows, The Babadook, Creep, and, err, Tusk. Does It Follows stand the test of time and still scare us in 2021? And how would the Incantation hosts defeat that undefeatable evil creeper?

Episode #7: Midsommar

Incantation explores Ari Aster's second film - Midsommar. Midsommar is a 2019 folk horror film written and directed by Ari Aster and starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgren, Ellora Torchia, Archie Madekwe, and Will Poulter. It follows a group of friends who travel to Sweden for a festival that occurs once every 90 years, only to find themselves in the clutches of a pagan cult.



Ari Aster's sophomore offering finds its roots in family tragedy. But that's where similarities with Hereditary end. Florence Pugh's Dani is plunged into the startlingly vivid sunshine of rural Sweden and must navigate both an increasingly toxic relationship and the Hälsingland midsummer rituals.

Will this film cement Lynn's love for Aster? Will Joe and Caleb ever take a trip to Sweden after this? And Josh, well. He's got opinions.
