Having eternal life means that we don’t have to dread punishment from God, and we get to travel from the kingdom of death to the kingdom of life.

Jesus reminds Nicodemus of the story of the bronze snake. In that story, God heals the people of Israel when they were bitten by snakes in the wilderness. Jesus says he’s going to heal people in a similar way, but not of snake venom! Jesus wants to heal the world of sin.
