What does is actually look like to be a Christian?

While the world offers a plethora of opinions on how to live this life, how to be a good person, how to attain success, and more, none of those goals holds eternal value. Yet becoming a Christian and living as a Christian lasts forever.

Scripture teaches Christians how to behave.

The Bible enlightens us. We might think we have the Christian walk figured out, but in reality, we can re-read the same portions of God’s Word and still learn something new. We can still be convicted and challenged. We can still grow.

Romans 12:9-21 is very direct.

I hope you’ll join me for this message and listen through to the end. God’s Word contains power to change us, and following the Lord’s instructions adds value to our lives: peace, purpose, and so much more.

May the repetition of Scripture in this video penetrate your heart.

It has reverberated in mine. God has impacted me through His timeless word, and I pray He will reach into your heart the same way. Because identifying as a Christian is one thing, but acting like one is an everyday, ongoing process.

God is conforming us to “the image of His Son” (Romans 8:29).

According to Vine’s Expository Dictionary, Christian signifies “an adherent of Jesus.” So the way we behave reflects on our Lord. Let’s lean on the Holy Spirit to produce the Christlikeness within us that we yearn for.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. —Galatians 5:25

Maybe life is heavy and hard for you. Maybe it’s mundane … or fantastic.

Wherever we find ourselves — whatever the mess, regularity, or delight — God deserves our praise! And amazingly, our spirits rise when we exalt Him.

We praise the Lord for what He’s done, and we worship Him for who He is.

Have you ever heard this distinction?

I’m unsure exactly where I heard it from, but I feel pretty certain I learned this truth from my husband. And it provides helpful clarity.

Please join me in considering the joy of praise.

I struggled to determine a topic for this episode, and then the Lord brought it all together. He’s so faithful to provide messages for me to share. And it truly delights me to teach about Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron, along with five ways to praise the Lord.

A couple of the ways might be new to you.

Each one comes straight from God’s Word, and all of them can be implemented in ordinary life. They will help you dwell on God’s wonders, sharpening your focus on Him and His incredible works. I feel uplifted again as I recall the Spirit’s leading while I presented these truths.

So please find a few quiet moments, settle in a comfy spot, and tune in.

Welcome Scripture into another intersection with daily life. Open your heart to our Heavenly Father, who is conforming you “to the image of His Son” (Romans 8:29, NASB). And let the praises flow.

Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

Dear Friends,

I wasn’t planning to record this message when I did. But after reading my Bible, I developed a desire to do so. Then, the Lord encouraged me as I taught. I love the way He works.

Romans 7:6 reads,

But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

That phrase, “serve in the newness of the Spirit,” captured my attention. So instead of forcing myself to plod through the list in my planner, I decided to move in the most inspiring direction: creating this video.

Perhaps you need encouragement because life hurts.

I understand because I’ve been there. In fact, in the early morning hours before I recorded this message, tears burst onto my face.

Maybe you’re dealing with a spirit of heaviness that you can’t escape.

If so, please take time to watch this video. Or even just listen. Because the Lord will lift your spirit as you look to Him and His Word.

He’s just that good.

I wrestled with whether to publish this video. Because the more I considered it, the main point of the message seemed like a no-brainer. Like really, of course you should speak up in the type of situation presented.
