Joshua and Rachel Escalante with their four children have been living in Bethlehem and teaching at the Jerusalem School. The school, an American Christian School, is located in Bethlehem and serves over 600 children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The conflict over the last several decades has left the people of Bethlehem with low employment rates and many obstacles for growth. Children make up nearly half of the population and due to the extreme restrictions, enforced due to years of conflict, many of the children will never have the opportunity to leave the 6-mile radius of their city. Education is key to unlocking new hope in the hearts of the children and is a practical way to give back to Bethlehem and share the love of Jesus. Joshua and Rachel's positions as teachers afford them the opportunity to do this by building influential relationships with these children and teaching them about Jesus. They serve with a team of volunteers from the United States as well as other Christian teachers hired from within Bethlehem and the nearby communities. Their mission is to bring hope to the city that brought the world the greatest hope.

Psalm 122:6-9
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace
within your walls
and security within your citadels.”
For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the
Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity.
