Leslie Lewis is the U.S. Coordinator for SAFE-Africa/Gogo Grandmothers. She coordinates the information flow and support for the ministries of SAFE (Sub-Saharan Africa Family Enrichment) in Malawi, Africa. SAFE serves in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world, but it is often called the “Warm Heart of Africa” because of the warmth of its people.
SAFE addresses four foundational needs in Malawi.
1. Gogo Grandmothers who are caring for Malawi’s orphans and vulnerable children
2. Early Childhood Development through village preschools (CBCCS)
3. Education and Youth Development (including the Why Wait? Biblical Life Skills Curriculum) in the schools
4. Evangelism and Discipleship, the vital core in each in each of SAFE’s ministries
James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
Ezekiel 16:49
Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, the fullness of food, and idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
